Deltaville

We left Reedville early this morning to non-predicated very light winds so the engine was on for the whole trip to Deltaville. On the way into the harbour, we were treated to Dolphins swimming around and quite near the boat. We anchored in a big bay near a few marinas. I needed to change the engine oil and filter for both engines thus my desire to arrive early and to be near a marina where I hoped to be able to dispose of the oil. A lot of places won’t take it and this can be a real issue, but we were ok here.  I think I have things set up pretty good for changing the oils (built in extractor, remote filter, drain valve etc) but it is still a nasty, dirty job while being jammed into the hole that is the engine compartment. I would gladly pay some kid $50.00 to do it but I don’t think there are any dumb enough to take me up on it :)
Oh well, done for another 100 hrs so we should be well south at that point.
We went ashore and for a walk and are starting to notice different vegetation, even a cactus and a palm tree! Trees seem very healthy and large unlike many of the anorexic ones we have at home. We ran into another Canadian couple who left Niagara on the Lake a month ago in a small trawler. They plan to leave it outside of Norfolk, fly home, then come back in January and continue down to the Bahamas! Not my idea of fun….
We are about 40 nm to Norfolk so it won’t be too long til we get to the ICW and into the “Dismal Swamp”.
